What is RocCitySpots?
RocCitySpots is a listing of skate spots in and around Rochester, New York. RocCitySpots makes no claims and/or suggestions about where to go skateboard/bike/rollerblade or other activity. You, the reader/viewer/user of the website claims all responsiblity when going to a skateboard spot listed/shown/depicted on the website.

What if the town I live in is not listed?
Only the towns/villages relatively close to Rochester are listed on the website. Now we realize some skateboard spots are in other towns like Hilton for example. So, in this case any skate spot outside of the listed towns, will be listed in the town closest to it. So if there was a skate spot in Hilton, it would be listed in the Greece section. This is because Greece is the town closest to Hilton.

Why are some towns combined onto one page?
Do to the lack of skate spots, some towns have to be combined onto one page. Having a page for a town with only three skate spots would be impractical. Also, some towns are very small, and only contain a few skate spots. This is the reason East Rochester and Fairport have been combined onto one page. In order for towns to be combined onto one page, they have to be bordering each other.

What is the difference between a handicap rail and a hand rail?
In reality, the terms are interchangeable. But, for purposes of this website, the meanings are taken literally to better separate skate spots. A handicap rail is a rail without stairs. It can go down an incline or it can be on flat land. Handicap rails for handicapped people, hence there are no stairs. A hand rail is a rail that goes down stairs. In the end, one has stairs and the other does not, but it just makes it easier to navigate the website.

How do I find directions to a skate spot?
To find directions to a certain skateboard spot, go to that skate spot page and find the address. Copy and paste the address to any online map (Yahoo! Maps) and enter your address too. Some of the directions are intersections, that is as close as we could get you to the spot on a map. For the rest of the address just fill in Rochester, NY. It will work for any town.

What does "Lighting Level" mean?
Lighting level is the level of visibility of the skate spot at night time.
"Pitch Black"- This is really dark, only skate if you realize there is great chance of falling because you can't see.
"You Can See the Spot"- The lighting is ok, you might be able to see what you are doing.
"Decent Lighting"- For some people this is enough to skate, for others it is not. You can see, but may not be comfortable to skate in these conditions.
"We're in Vegas"- There are so many lights, that you can see fine to skate.

Why is a skate spot I know about not on the website?
There could be a multitude of reasons for this. For one, maybe we do not know about the spot. Another reason could be that we just have not had the time to go to the area and take pictures and gather information. Just let us know.

What kind of spots are in the Other section?
If there is a skate spot that we can't place into one of the three main sections, it will end up in the other section. It is hard to describe the kind of spot because any of the spots in the Other section are all unique.

Why is there a question mark instead of a picture on some of the spot pages?
We don't have enough pictures of this skateboard spot, so we just added a question mark. Feel free to submit pictures of any skate spots.
